The kitchen display (KDS)

  1. Refresh, sound and auto-print

Auto refresh keeps pulling new tickets so nobody has to reload the screen. Sound plays a chime when a new ticket or a new round arrives. Auto-print sends new orders to your printers while this screen stays open.

  2. Kitchen stations

Create stations such as grill or bar, choose which menu categories each one prepares and set a target preparation time. A station with no categories shows every item.

  3. Switch station

Show only the items the selected station prepares. Bumping a ticket here marks only this station's items as ready.

  4. All, new or in progress

New orders are tickets where no item has been started yet; In progress are the rest. The numbers show how many tickets are in each group.

  5. Live tickets

Every open kitchen ticket, without prices. A ticket turns red once it waits longer than the station's target time and pulses with a Stuck badge when it waits much longer; a blue New round badge marks items added to an existing table order.

  6. Working a ticket

The header shows the order code, table, channel and minutes waited, plus a printer button to reprint. For each item, Start marks it as preparing and the tick marks it ready; the undo arrow sends a ready item back to the queue.

  7. Bump ticket

Marks every remaining item on the ticket as ready in one tap. Once all items are ready the button shows Ready and the ticket is done for the kitchen.

  8. The kitchen display (KDS)

Orders appear here as tickets for your cooks; as each item is prepared and bumped, the front of house and the customer can see the progress. On a busy night, a KDS that everyone actually watches is what keeps tickets moving instead of piling up.
